Michael Cohen, Partner

Since 1995, Michael has worked as an entrepreneur, business manager, consultant, and investor- most prominently as President/Co-Founder of iballs Internet Media, a pioneering online marketing services and technology firm. Under Michael's leadership, iballs helped define the Internet's value as a marketing channel for clients including Alloy, Bose, J.Crew, Hearst, News Corp., Netscape, OfficeMax, The Princeton Review, Sony, and USA Networks. In 1999, iballs was purchased by Aquantive (then Avenue A), where Michael led process and technology integration prior to a successful IPO in February 2000.
Most recently, Michael has been consulting for and investing in both new technology and bricks & mortar companies. Consulting Clients include Spin Magazine, Baby Loves Disco, King of the Web, socialmedia.com, Weplay.com, Modern Green Home, Mecox Gardens, and GreenLogic Energy. Roles and responsibilities range from brand strategy and marketing communications to ad creation/copywriting, media planning, and digital marketing strategy with a focus in social media. Michael has made early stage investments in SkipHop, The Echo Nest, and Vizibility, among others, and is a member of the New York Angels.
Previously, Michael served as a Partner, Interactive marketing Director for Ogilvy & Mather, where he developed social media initiatives for Kodak and IBM. Prior to that, he was the Managing Director of Market Maker Interactive, a full-service agency with clients that included Christie’s, Meredith Publishing, and Sleepy’s. Other companies for which Michael has consulted include Upoc Networks, eDiets, and Max Worldwide. Michael is also a Co-Founder of East Yoga Center, a Vinyasa studio in Manhattan's east village that spawned Animal Planet's K9Karma daytime program.
Michael has a B.A. in English from Tufts University, an MBA in Marketing from Columbia University, and lives in Ft. Greene Brooklyn and Sag Harbor, NY with his wife, three kids, two dogs, and six chickens.
